What are Skills Assessments?
Skills Assessments are evaluations/tests designed to better understand the basic skills an applicant possesses. These assessments may include behavioral tests, cognitive tests, skill tests, or a combination of these.
Why use a Skills Assessment?
Skills assessments can help your organization easily identify the candidates that will best fit the open positions within your organization. Skills assessments can be customized to fit your hiring needs to ensure you find the best talent! Do you need to know how many words-per-minute an applicant can type? Do you need to know how good an applicant is at editing a document? Do you need to understand their work ethic and leadership style? These are all things that Skills Assessments can test for, along with countless others.
What kind of skill assessments are available?
There are two main categories of assessments available to get to understand your applicants better; hard skills and soft skills. Below are some examples of each of these:
- Proficiency in a foreign language
- A degree or certificate
- Typing speed
- Machine operation
