A Day in the Life of a Seasonal Camp Counselor

Are you someone who is outdoors, adventurous and thrives on doing something different every day? Being a camp counselor gives you an opportunity to make a difference in young children’s lives as well as gives you an experience of a lifetime! As a camp counselor, you assist kids ages anywhere between 4-12 with recreational activities. The children who attend are camp are separated into age groups which we will put you in charge of a specific age group each week so you get a new experience with kids of all ages.

A typical day at camp consists of :

• Showing up at 8:00 am and welcoming kids to camp
• Taking attendance
• Leading recreational activities, enforcing rules
• Teaching wilderness skills, identifying different types of plants, animals, insects, wildlife.
• Prepare meals and snack time.
• Supervising pool time

You will also assisting with occasional field trips. It’s important that this person has leadership qualities and a positive attitude. Also,be prepared to be on your feet all day and to spend a lot of time outdoors in the beautiful mountains.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is dependable, responsible, and positive. Preferably some previous experience working with children. We ask that this person of at least their high school diploma and have a driver's license. Experience working with youth is a big plus as well.

Schedule

The summer camp will be help May 30- August 1st, however we will need our camp counselors to start the week before to prepare and train for the summer season. We are looking for someone who will be available for the entire summer. The shifts start at 8:00 a.m and your day ends by 4:30-5:00. Also, you will be provided with lunch every day.
