A Day in the Life of a Commercial Loan Officer
Once the loan process is in motion, you take over routine communication with members for things such as the request of additional documents and answering basic questions. You establish, maintain, and update files, databases, records, and/or other documents for recurring internal reports. Ongoing training is also an important part of your job, as policies and regulations change often. You prioritize your own workload and work independently. As each loan closes successfully, you have a feeling of accomplishment.
Qualifications
- HS diploma or equivalent
- At least 2 years of experience in lending
- Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office
- Ability to type 30 WPM
- Ability to pass a background check
For this position, a degree in business or finance would be a plus. Any customer service or clerical experience would be helpful. This job requires that you have integrity and are conscientious, as you will be dealing with sensitive information. It is the loan officer’s responsibility to establish good relationships with businesses. It would be your responsibility, however, to help maintain these good relationships.
