A Day in the Life of a Commercial Loan Officer
As a Commercial loan officer, you partner with businesses in our community to help them reach their goals. You spend time building relationships based on trust and respect. You work hard networking so that you are the first to come to mind when businesses in our community need financial services.
When business are ready, you collect information to perform a preliminary credit review and analysis concerning their needs. You originate and service a variety of commercial loans such as conventional, SBA, Construction, and C&I. You are conscientious about portfolio maintenance and loan administration in accordance with our, federal, state, and NCUA policies. You maximize the profitability to [Insert name of credit union here] and propose strategies to mitigate risk. You conduct feasibility and market research.
You spend some time each day on the phone following up with prospects and members. You cross-sell other credit union products. You also conduct site visits to inspect collateral and inventory. You work with other team members to resolve troubled loans. You take pride in meeting loan production goals. You also have opportunities to mentor less experienced loan officers and assist in training.

- Bachelor’s Degree in business/finance or 5+ years of experience in commercial real estate, finance, community development, or a related field.
