The Bioinformatics Scientist in the Assay Development team will be working with other Scientists in a collaborative environment to lead the development and validation of sequence bioinformatics pipelines in the support of existing commercial products and the design and development of new assays. Furthermore, this position will establish and validate bioinformatic models by designing and overseeing molecular biology experiments. This role is a mixture of writing code, compiling data, performing statistical analyses, and presenting findings, while maintaining clear, concise, complete development protocols, reports, and electronic lab notebook entries. This role is a vital part of the Lucira Health team, with key contributions to the product pipeline.


  • Strong experience in the use of a high-level programming language such as R, Python or Perl for bioinformatics sequence analysis and development of commercial pipelines
  • Knowledge of statistical and computational methods to solve bioinformatics problems or related challenges.
  • Proficiency with Unix systems and comfort with command line tools
  • Experience in setting up and administering computer infrastructure in the cloud or on local hardware
  • Good understanding and compliance with principles of Good Documentation Practice
  • Familiar with PCR and/or isothermal amplifications techniques and key design parameters

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • A strong work ethic and drive
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills tailored for collaborative teamwork

Education and Experience

  • Advanced degree in Bioinformatics or related field, PhD preferred
  • Strong candidates with a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years' experience of working in a related industry in a bioinformatics role may be considered
