The Compliance Analyst for Billing and Coding will provide comprehensive regulatory and compliance related audits departments, physicians and other entities. Works closely with management and providers to identify regulatory risk areas and prioritize risks for education and ongoing monitoring, particularly in the revenue cycle areas.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, design, conduct and complete reviews for coding and/or documentation accuracy and compliance with federal regulations and guidelines.
- Plan, conduct and complete reviews in other areas of compliance and related operations as identified in the risk assessment process. Work closely with revenue cycle, physicians and other key management personnel throughout the system to improve coding, billing and documentation compliance.
- Provides training and acts as a resource to physicians, non-physician providers, support staff, administration and other personnel on compliance with federal and state regulations and guidelines.
- Viewed as the resource for coding as well processes to maintain compliance with the various government regulations. It is important that all professional staff have high integrity, knowledge and are sensitive to the confidentiality of Vista Hospital matters.
- May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents. Certification in one of the following within two (2) years as a condition of continued employment in this job classification:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in business or health care related field. Work experience or certification in a clinical area
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Professional Coder Apprentice (CPC-A), Certified Professional Coder-Hospital (CPC-H), Certified Outpatient Coding (COC), Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA), Certified Outpatient Coding Apprentice (COC-A) by American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC)
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Certified Coding Specialist-Physician Based (CCS-P), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) by American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) by Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Other coding, billing, compliance, or auditing certifications by reputable certifying agencies are acceptable
- Knowledge of contract terminology as it relates to healthcare
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with customers
- Ability to resolve problems with minimal assistance.
- Proficient in computer skills necessary to perform job duties.
- Strong interpersonal skills and organizational skills
