The purpose of this permanent part-time position is to primarily serve as the weekend manager on duty as well as to assist in the management all golf operations at Ruth Park Golf Course by overseeing the daily operations of the golf shop and driving range activities. The Golf Shop Supervisor is expected to utilize significant independent judgment to ensure an enjoyable golfing experience for a high volume daily municipal golf course. Works under the supervision of the Assistant Golf Manager and indirectly to the Golf Manager and Deputy Director of Recreation. Direct subordinates may include Golf Course Attendants (Golf Shop, Driving Range, Concessions), consultants/contractors and volunteers.
Opening and/or closing Golf Shop and preparing for daily operations, which may include counting money/receipts, closing register and preparing daily deposits.
Assists in the supervision all golf course and driving range personnel.
Ensures a high-quality customer experience, including supervising tee time management, fee collection, and customer interaction.
Assists in the ordering and displays golf equipment and apparel merchandise.
Assist with golf tournaments and leagues.
Organizes, promotes, and conducts events on site.
Assist in overseeing novice and junior instructional golf camps.
Assists in the oversight of food service for small snack bar and ensures their adherence to health codes.
Remains up to date on all product knowledge for all food and beverage and for the golf shop.
Assists in the oversight of budget items, daily deposits, and the collection of invoices from vendors.
Assists in the oversight of payroll for over 20 part-time employees.
Assists in the oversight of planning and placing restrictions on golf-cart use for grounds maintenance purposes.
Assists in the preparation and organization of golf carts including cleaning and repair.
Provides human resource services to employees as well as visitors.
Performs other duties as required and/or assigned.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
High School degree with some college classes in Parks and Recreation Management, Sports Management, Business Management, Physical Education, or related field.
Between one and three years of experience working in golf operations preferred.
Previous management skills are preferred.
A valid Driver's License and the ability to maintain insurability under the City's vehicle insurance policy.
Sales and customer service experience is preferred.
ServSafe Certification required within six (6) months.
CPR/AED Certification required within six (6) months.
Excellent written and oral communications skills.
