A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A MECHANICAL ENGINEER
As a Mechanical Engineer, you play a vital role in the mechanical design work for our radar components. You redesign OEM mechanical components in accordance with the SLEP (Service Life Extension Program). You produce new designs for Radar and SATCOM upgrade components.
To have designs fabricated, you interface with external machine shops and fabrication contractors as needed. You are meticulous about following our company's policies and industry best practices. You get great satisfaction out of ensuring exceptional mechanical designs for our radar components, so that we can continue to support those who protect national interests and preserve freedom around the world!
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A MECHANICAL ENGINEER
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
- 2 years of experience in electronics packaging preferred
- Experience with mechanical design for low-volume manufacturing
- Experience interfacing with machinists and designing parts for ease of manufacturing
- Familiarity with packaging requirements of Digital and RF electronics
- Familiarity with printed circuit board layout requirements
- Strong proficiency in 3D-modeling (Solidworks preferred)
- Knowledge of product qualification testing requirements
- Strong familiarity with component level, sub-assembly level, and assembly level of product documentation and the ability to provide a bill of materials for each
- Ability to produce drawings of mechanical designs and see them all the way through to manufacturing
