Job Summary:
The Department of Modern & Classical Languages has an opening for a part-time instructor to teach
two sections of Italian in the Fall 2023 semester.
Essential Duties:
Use a communicative approach to the teaching of a foreign language, teaching as much as possible
in the target language with minimal English for clarification of some grammar points.
Prepare daily lesson plans and activities that engage students in their study of beginning and
intermediate Italian, following a syllabus provided by the Department Chair.
Prepare and grade tests, use an online program for daily homework, and evaluate students' daily
participation.
Maintain a class record and keep attendance.
Be available for students by appointment to help them with any specific problems they might be
having with the course material.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Ability:
Native or near-native Italian fluency;
Thorough knowledge of the subject matter;
Ability to plan and present instructional material in a clear, logical and concise manner;
Ability to maintain a proper teacher-student relationship;
Sound professional judgment;
Initiative and resourcefulness
Qualifications:
Master's Degree in the area of specialization preferred.
