Job Summary
Perform systems engineering duties in architecting, designing, integrating, and testing aircraft and weapons systems. May conduct basic and applied research to evaluate adaptability of computer software and hardware to aircraft design and manufacture. May recommend improvements in testing equipment and techniques. Performs the role of System Architect. Makes recommendations about human-machine interface in collaboration with NAVAIR's Human Systems Engineering Department.
Primary Responsibilities
Note: Senior level person may oversee the efforts of less senior staff and/or be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job. May also ensure project procedures and controls are followed, manage manning and staffing project efforts, and lead problem resolution efforts. Interfaces with system or program Contractors, vendors, and Government representatives regarding the technical aspects of the programs/projects.
Basic Qualifications
US Citizen, Active Secret Clearance
Journeyman: At least five (5) years of experience in Systems Engineering supporting DoD aircraft systems, DoD weapons systems, DoD mission systems, or DoD support systems, consisting of the design, development, integration and system testing of computer hardware, computer software, and navigation, sensor, and communication subsystems.
Senior: At least ten (10) years of experience in Systems Engineering supporting DoD aircraft systems, DoD mission systems, or DoD support systems, consisting of the design, development, integration and system testing of computer hardware, computer software, and navigation, sensor, and communication subsystems.
Education and Experience Requirements
BS or BA degree in a Technical Discipline.
NOTE: The degree above is REQUIRED. Neither an associate degree nor additional years of experience can be substituted for a Bachelor's degree.
