Intern, Tunnel Redundancy
The MWRA's Metropolitan Water Tunnel Program consists of a proposed deep rock tunnel system to provide a redundant water supply for the metropolitan Boston area. The Program includes planning, design and construction of approximately 14 miles of deep rock pressure tunnel. The nearly 20-year, $1.4 billion program is currently at the early stages of planning/design. The candidate will gain hands-on, real world experience in civil/geotechnical/tunnel engineering and contribute to the success of a world class mega-project!
Intern-Tunnel Redundancy Department Chelsea, MA
The MWRA Tunnel Redundancy Department has an opening for an intern and the job duties include:
- Collect and prepare data for evaluation
- Use computer-assisted engineering software to perform engineering tasks
- Participate in field inspections
- Assist with the preparation of reports and studies
- Assist with other office or field engineering tasks
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the collection and preparation data for evaluation
- Perform engineering analysis using computer-assisted engineering
- Participate in field inspections
- Assist with the preparation of reports and studies
- Perform related duties as required
Requirements:
- Undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in a program with a focus in Civil, Geotechnical, Tunnel or Geologic Engineering (or related field). Applicants who have at least completed their junior year are preferred.
- Ability to work in a professional business office setting
- Ability to learn and use engineering software
- Strong technical writing and communications skills
- The ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds
- Valid driver's license
- Knowledge of ArcGIS and gINT is preferred
