Job Summary: |
Performs complex work in the operation, construction, and maintenance of grounds, pumps, motors, instruments, and Lift Station equipment. Work involves coordinating the maintenance, operation, and repairs of equipment. Works under general supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. |
Essential Job Functions: |
Note: This information is intended to be descriptive of the key responsibilities of the position. The list of essential functions below does not identify all duties performed by any single incumbent in this position. a. Inspect, maintain and repair the City's Sanitary Sewer Lift Stations equipment. b. Operate and inspect lift stations wet wells and dry wells daily for proper operation. c. May preform repairs or replace lift station pumps, motors, and valves. d. Conduct routine maintenance of lift stations mechanical equipment such as re-packing pumps, replacing worn or damaged motor belts, and unstopping clogged pumps. e. Take readings from meter gauges, ensuring Lift Station is kept clean and orderly. f. Control construction related equipment such as pressurized sewer cleaners, portable generators, (gasoline & diesel), water pumps, air compressors, pipe cutters (manual & hydraulic), and fitting equipment. g. Performs related work and reports as assigned. |

a. Applicant will be subject to a complete background investigation. Incomplete, inaccurate and/or failure to report information will cause the applicant rejection from consideration. b. Applicant must take and pass a pre-employment drug test administered by the City of Edinburg at the City's expense. c. Must have a current valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety with a satisfactory driving record. d. Preferred TCEQ Class "B" Wastewater Operator's License or higher. e. Achieve TCEQ Class "D" Wastewater Operator's License or Wastewater Collection Class I within first (1) year of employment. f. Achieve TCEQ Class "C" Wastewater Operator's License or Wastewater Collection Class II within three (3) years of employment. g. Achieve TCEQ Class "B" Wastewater Operator's License or Wastewater Collection Class III within five (5) years of employment. |

High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalency. |

Mechanical aptitude to troubleshooting and repair lift station equipment. f. Requires some knowledge of lift station operation maintenance repair and record keeping procedures. |
