Your Role as High School Program Manager

We are seeking a dynamic, leader to join our organization as part of our program leadership team. The High School Program Manager helps coordinate College Possible programs within our partner high schools by supervising, training and supporting 6-8 Service Corps Members.

  • Supervise, Train and Support Service Corps Members: Duties include providing daily support, guidance, and oversight to Service Corps Members to ensure excellence in service and programming. Troubleshoot issues as they arise, evaluate performance, gather feedback, and work in partnership with other staff to ensure the highest quality of service to students, school sites, and Service Corps Members. Coordinate, prepare, and lead high-quality trainings and weekly meetings for Service Corps Members. Conduct midyear, and end of term evaluations and ensure adherence to AmeriCorps member service requirements.
  • Ensure Program Quality and Curriculum Fidelity: Oversee the implementation of curriculum by high school coaches to ensure fidelity to our program model. Evaluate lesson plan delivery and support Service Corps members in growing as lesson planners, mentors, and instructors. Ensure that needed resources are in place to support execution of the program and meet benchmarks. Ensure that Service Corps members implement activities outside of regular classroom sessions, such as individual student meetings, college visits, standardized test exams, and program-wide events. Help to coordinate those events as assigned.
  • Develop and Maintain High School Relationships: build and maintain successful relationships with assigned high schools by coordinating service delivery and maintaining communication with key contacts at each school. Meet with school administrators, counselors, and key contacts throughout the year to ensure program quality and successful partnership. Distribute program updates, attend school outreach events as needed, and maintain communication as the organization's lead ambassador to assigned high schools.
  • Evaluate, Track and Report on Progress: Ensure coach data is correct and up to date. Actively utilize student progress data and reports to inform coach priorities and student engagement. Assist the Assistant Director of College Access in the weekly tracking, evaluation and reporting of student progress in key program areas.
  • Recruit Student Scholars and AmeriCorps Service members: Work with Program Team to develop recruitment plans, outreach to high school partners, and select students for the coming program year. The Program Manager will also participate in AmeriCorps service member interviews and team selection process for the following year.
  • Project Management: Take lead on at least one site-wide project (such as test prep, student recruitment or financial aid); manage all aspects of the project and disseminate knowledge, tools and resources needed to project accomplish goals to the program manager team and Service Corps Members. Track tasks and deadlines, and compile data reports on results as requested. Participate in other work groups as lead or support role.

What You Bring


  • Bachelor's degree.

Related Work Experience:

  • At least two years of full-time work experience required.
  • At least one year of supervisory experience required.
  • Familiarity with the college admissions process, including standardized tests, application process and financial aid strongly preferred.
  • Teaching, training and/or college admissions experience desired.
  • Experience with AmeriCorps, VISTA, or other service programs desired.
  • Experience in project management desired.

Computer/Software Skills:

  • Well-developed computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Office Suite and Google Suite programs.
  • Experience with data tracking, collection and analysis desired.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce platform desired.

  • Demonstrated ability to work well with diverse types of people in a team environment.
  • Strong commitment to the mission of helping low-income students earn admission to college and persist toward degree completion.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work in a team, create community, meet deadlines, and handle potentially stressful situations calmly and appropriately.
  • Flexibility to work in multiple locations. Time is split between the College Possible office and affiliated schools.
  • Desire to work in a growing nonprofit organization, ability to adapt, creativity, and commitment to excellence highly valued.
  • Access to reliable transportation required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds when needed
  • Office environment with limited travel
  • Ability to stand and/or sit for a minimum of 7 hours a day
