We are currently seeking a compassionate, and experienced human services professional to join our team and community as a PRN. This position is primarily responsible for directing and evaluating all resident care given by the nurses within the Westminster community. Additional duties include administering disciplinary action and nursing care reporting.
Maintains resident confidentiality and privacy at all times according to policies and procedures; uses discretion when discussing confidential matters. Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior with residents, families, co-workers, subordinates, supervisors, and other department staff. Maintains positive working relationships with management and coworkers; willingly follows directions and requests as appropriate. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of policies and procedures; seeks clarification or interpretation from appropriate supervisor when needed. Uses tactful, diplomatic communication techniques in all relations with others.
Maintains all certifications necessary for employment. Maintains a current knowledge of federal, state and other regulations applicable to job. Complies with Westminster at Lake Ridge's established safety rules and practices. Complies with applicable safety policies and procedures as prescribed by the organization, as well as government regulations. Reports any potential safety hazard(s) immediately to supervisor or other appropriate personnel. Reports any injury of resident, visitor, or employee immediately to supervisor or other appropriate personnel Provides assistance to resident, visitor, or employee in an emergency situation; following the proper emergency procedures.
We are Looking for Rockstars
Administer medication and treatment to residents as prescribed by care team. Fills physician orders, transcribes all physician orders in a timely manner and ensures accuracy. Conducts morning and evening rounds. Utilizes CNA's as needed in conducting rounds and assessing resident needs. Ensures CNA's are providing appropriate care with each resident. Understands and participates in resident care treatment plans to include medication, therapy and testing. Maintains the resident's chart with updated information and ensures data is accurate. Reviews medication records for completeness and accuracy in the transcription of physician orders and adherence to stop order policies.
Notifies physician and family members of any significant changes in resident's health or care plan status. Creates and distributes resident care and staff reports to the DON and appropriate staff. Conducts narcotic count and maintains inventory of all medications. Acts as a supervisor of assigned shift, ensuring productivity, efficiency and accuracy of work delivered. Ensures all nurses are properly trained to perform duties and are attending all mandatory trainings and meetings. Monitors staffing needs and reports any requirements in a timely manner.
Bachelor's degree in Nursing. At least one (1) year long term care nursing experience. An active/current Registered Nurse license in Virginia. Preference is for those who have advanced knowledge in field of practice in geriatric care. Must be knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations and guidelines. Incumbent should be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form, possess high-quality verbal and written communication ability, strong interpersonal and leadership skills, and be knowledgeable on general nursing principles. Must be proficient in the operation of computer applications and Care System paging systems.
