Wilkes University invites applicants for part-time positions as Home Visitors in the SHINE afterschool program. Luzerne County SHINE is a nationally recognized program that provides hands on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) instructional activities to students in 1st through 8th grade in five local school districts and Remedial home visits to Pre-K and Kindergarten students. Current openings for Home Visitors are in the following districts: Wilkes Barre Area, Pittston Area, Nanticoke Area and Hanover Area.

Home Visitors will develop instructional plans based on the referral from a Pre-K or Kindergarten teacher and work with students in their homes or virtually. The visitor will identify strengths and weaknesses in academics and establish goals for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students. The program will engage students in active learning and assist them in achieving academic readiness for the next grade level. Average 10 hours per week.

Two year degree in in early childhood education or a related field required, Bachelor's degree preferred. Candidates should be creative, highly motivated toward student success and focused on project based learning. Strong organizational skills, excellent oral and written communications and computer skills are required. At this time all visits are virtual but will return to in person at a later date not yet to be determined. Staff must have reliable transportation and valid Act 153 clearances. Hours are flexible.
