Defines manufacturing processes, supports the direct supply chain issues from receipt of goods through the manufacturing and assembly process to outgoing shipments. Troubleshoots and diagnoses assembly processes and reduces total defects through the analysis of data and corrective actions.
Manufacturing Processes: Knowledge of standard manufacturing techniques such as fastening, adhesives, hand operations and tools and functional testing. Extensive experience designing manufacturing processes to assemble a bill of materials into a final product.
Lean Manufacturing: Understanding of methods for waste minimization within a manufacturing system and addressing productivity.
Automation: Knowledge and experience in utilizing automation such as robotics and dispensing systems, PLC and Vision Systems as utilized for aiding productivity in manufacturing.
Computer Aided Manufacturing: Use of techniques such as additive manufacturing/3D printing to create fixtures and assembly aids. Preferred experience with SolidWorks and PDM.
Quality Management: Knowledge of Six Sigma analysis and methods for process improvement and control.
ERP Systems: Basic knowledge of the requirements of an ERP system for product specifications and bills of materials and routings.
Work Instructions: Experience in developing, validating and perfecting assembly work instructions in a clear and presentable configuration.
Estimating: Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
Problem Solving: Experienced using creative and structured problem-solving techniques to identify and validate solutions to presented engineering and production problems.
Teamwork Skills: Able to work within a cohesive, multi-disciplinary, cross-functional team as needed to resolve problems.
Communication Skills: Able to present ideas and concepts to team members and management and document results.
Computer Skills: Standard computer productivity suite skills. Experience preferred in project management, statistical and specialized manufacturing software.
Education and Experience:
Minimum bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, with experience in additional disciplines such as electrical/electronic, computer/data acquisition preferred.
Preferred 5 to 10 years experience in new product introduction and sustaining engineering.
