For more than 75 years, Via Services' mission has been to empower people with disabilities and their families to grow, develop and thrive by providing essential skill-building, therapeutic and recreational programs. Via's First Step program provides play-based speech and occupational therapy to children ages 0-10. We also partner with the San Andreas Regional Center and other local agencies to provide Early Start assessments for children ages 0-3.

Via's First Step team is looking for full-time, part-time, or contract Speech-Language Pathologists to provide eligibility assessments for ages birth through 3 years, on a multidisciplinary team approach for the Early Start Program, and provide direct speech and language therapy services to children birth through 13 years of age with communication or related disorders.

We have started our transition to return to in-person.

  • Manage and maintain patient caseload as directed by management

  • Plan, organize and administer appropriate diagnostic and therapy services to assigned patients

  • Complete written documentation of services provided (case notes, progress reports, and evaluations).

  • Collaborate with parents/guardians and colleagues for therapeutic goals and frequency of services

  • Provide recommendations and on-going consultation with parents

  • Work with Via Intake team members and SARC Service Coordinators to provide Intake assessments to referred clients

  • Intake team duties include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Assist in preparing Intake files by providing all necessary paperwork and completing initial documentation prior to the Intake appointment.

    • Review medical records and Early Start intake packet prior to initial client appointment

    • Administer standardized test(s) to children birth to three years

    • Complete IFSP report and all required paperwork.

    • Submit reports/documentation within mandated deadlines

  • Provide administrative support including, but not limited to: maintaining client attendance sheets, maintaining monthly, re-stocking program forms and stock charts, monthly shopping (snacks), photocopying and reporting low inventories

  • Collaborate and meet regularly with other team specialists to discuss topics related to program administration and clinical services

  • Provide information and support to families

  • Attend workshops, seminars, and in-service trainings for professional growth

  • Provide in-service trainings for fellow staff members on attended workshops and seminars

  • Work towards meeting and supporting individual client and family goals and needs in coordination with other agencies including, but not limited to, the San Andreas Regional Center (SARC), Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE), First 5, and community mental health agencies

  • Complete all required paperwork in a timely and accurate manner

  • Represent Via programs at community and professional functions as needed

  • Assist in writing, brainstorming, and completing Grant programs related to speech language pathology or related fields

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to work one-two late start days (e.g. 10:30-7:00pm)

  • Working knowledge of G-Suite for email, document sharing and calendar

  • Ability to become proficient in new systems

  • Ability to document and train others on workflow processes

  • Effective and professional written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Ability to work successfully with a diverse group of people; parents, staff, visitors and community

  • Accuracy, attention to detail and strong organizational skills are required

  • Ability to prioritize and manage numerous projects at once

  • Must have reliable motor vehicle transportation, job related mileage is reimbursed

Education and Experience

  • MA or MS in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from ASHA (after CF/RPE year)

  • California State License in Speech-Language Pathology (Temporary RPE license upon approval)

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Ability to sit, stand, stoop, and bend occasionally.

  • Ability to lift young clients as needed to perform job duties

  • Eligibility to work in the United States

  • Valid Driver's License and proof of continuous automobile insurance coverage as required by the State of California.

  • Ability to obtain criminal fingerprint clearance (DOJ/FBI)

  • Proof of negative TB results and documentation of covid-19 vaccination (or approved ADA/EEOC accommodation)

  • CPR Certification/First Aid Training within thirty (30) days of hire date and prior to expiration thereafter

  • Willingness to work variable hours, including evenings, weekends and select holidays.

  • At least 18 years of age
