Summary
The Engineering Technician provides support for electronic systems, mechanical systems, testing, installation, troubleshooting and maintenance for existing and new radar systems in a R&D environment.
Essential Functions
- Provide support for electronic and mechanical systems.
- Testing and Troubleshooting of radar systems and components.
- Installation and Maintenance of radar systems and components.
- Assist engineers with Reverse engineering and replacement designs.
- Systems test and evaluation.
- Consulting and technical support for repair and manufacturing.
Competency or position requirements
- Read and follow electro-mechanical schematics.
- Electronics systems knowledge.
- Mechanical systems knowledge.
- RF systems knowledge.
- Circuit board troubleshooting and rework.
- Testing and evaluation.
- Ability to operate soldering irons, bench drills, or other tools to repair, manufacture and install parts.
Supervision Received
This position is a direct report to the Director of Engineering.
Education and Experience
- We prefer an Associate degree in Electronics Technology or Electronics Technician Certificate(s) from accredited school or equivalent work or military experience.
- Knowledge of Radar systems and components would be beneficial and valuable.
- Knowledge of AC/DC circuits, RF and digital electronics.
- Analog, Digital and RF circuit knowledge and troubleshooting experience.
- Soldering, Cable and Connector assembly.
- Circuit Card troubleshooting and rework experience.
Physical Factors
The job consists of sitting and standing throughout the day.
Working Conditions
The department for this position is indoors in an office atmosphere with an open area for laboratory equipment. Some outdoor work may be required on outdoor equipment such as vans and antennas. Working in Radio Vans will be required.
