Position Description

The Member Service Associate is responsible for ensuring quality and efficient customer service to ASID members, prospects and partners through the daily management and engagement of the customer service function. This role contributes to department operations through the day-to-day triage and management of customer inquiries, payments, and account adjustments. The Member Service Associate uses their in-depth knowledge of ASID programs, projects, website updates and internal communications to provide outstanding "no-transfer" customer service. This role routinely resolves customer inquiries through multiple channels including email, direct mail, and telephone; processes new member applications and member renewals in ASID's member database.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Member/Customer Service

  • Professionally answers customer inquiries via telephone and email during ASID business hours.
  • Regularly provides knowledgeable and high-quality service to members and potential members by responding to inquiries and providing information about membership and member benefits on a timely basis.
  • Grows the overall membership base through the prompt and thorough information provided to prospective new members on membership eligibility, member benefits and the value proposition of membership.
  • Effectively assists individuals, candidates, and students in understanding their current status and the requirements needed to achieve membership status.
  • Cultivates client relationships ranging from sole proprietor designers to large corporations.
  • Drives timely resolution of customer inquiries received through the membership inbox.
  • Promptly processes initial membership applications, after ensuring applications are complete and meet eligibility requirements, by creating membership records in database, entering applicant's information, and applying payment.
  • Confirms the thorough completion of customer requests by ensuring the order entry process is promptly completed.
  • Collects and reports member feedback on ASID programs and events.

Data Entry and Technical Support

  • Performs data clean-up projects and assists in maintaining the integrity of the database.
  • Assists colleagues, chapter administrators and volunteers with membership inquiries and data entry.
  • Tests new database functionality as requested.
  • Generates reports as requested
  • Assists with trouble shooting technical issues in the database.

Program and Event Support

  • Assists with member communication activities that drive attendance at association events and increase use of online resources; assists staff in event recruitment.
  • Works closely with other teams to continually inform members of the services and benefits of membership; assists with the execution of email and other marketing efforts.
  • Collects and reports member feedback on ASID programs and events.
  • Assists with the CEU audit process as requested.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or similar field preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 5 or more years of Customer Service experience. Experience in an Association preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and maintain data with accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures, policies and procedures.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with advanced skills in Excel preferred, and previous experience with databases a must (CRMs, AMS, etc.).
