Development Associate

Thanksgiving Point is seeking an organized, creative minded Development Associate to join our Development team. Thanksgiving Point is a 501(c)(3) multi-museum, farm, and garden complex that draws upon the natural world to cultivate transformative family learning.

Position Summary

The Development Associate is part of the fundraising team and works alongside the VP of Development, Director of Membership, and the Grant Manager to achieve annual fundraising goals. This is a great opportunity for an early career professional interested in building their skills in development, research, event planning, and grant writing. The successful candidate is an organized self-starter with experience in managing multiple projects and can work independently and as part of a team. The Development Associate is primarily responsible for assisting the VP of Development with the annual Imagine That! Gala and Discovery Cup events. This includes soliciting in-kind donations from businesses, organizing all donated gala auction items, managing the Bidpal website, and serving as a point of contact for the Imagine That! Gala/Golf Committees. The Development Associate will assist the fundraising team in other activities like sponsorships, the annual campaign, donor stewardship, and grant writing.

Positions Responsibilities

Solicit in-kind donations for the Imagine That! Gala and general Thanksgiving Point operations.

Creatively package Imagine That! Gala items and write enticing descriptions to maximize fundraising dollars.

Serve as a point of contact for the Gala Committee and organize all donations brought in by the committee.

Research companies, foundations, and other potential funding opportunities.

Assist with promoting Corporate Transferable memberships.

Provide written content for development materials as needed.

Assist development team with donor cultivation.

Upload documents into Tessitura along with other basic administrative duties.

Responsible for participation on the fundraising team, working collaboratively with other members to meet annual goals including helping with annual gala and golf tournament, donor cultivation events, Utah Symphony, VIP Luminaria, Legislative Family Night, and other events.

Responsible for other duties as assigned by the VP of Development and Corporate Relations.

Position Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university.

1 - 3 years experience in the nonprofit fundraising sector.

Demonstrated success in obtaining donations.
