The Greehey School of Business at St. Mary's University, a premier institution, invites applications for an open rank tenured or tenure-track position starting August 1, 2022. Candidates will be considered for appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank based on achievements and experience. An endowed professorship may be available for qualified candidates at the Associate or Full rank.


Candidates at the rank of Associate or Full should hold a Ph.D. or an equivalent terminal degree in Accounting from an AACSB accredited university. ABD candidates with an expected completion date within one year of appointment will be considered. Candidates at the rank of Assistant should hold or be near completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Accounting from an AACSB accredited university. Preference will be given to candidates able to teach across multiple instructional modalities at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate should be able to teach in more than one of the following areas including: financial accounting, auditing, governmental and not-for profit accounting, and systems or data analytics. Although not required, professional certifications in accounting are preferred. A commitment to service is expected including advising to students, and experience with VITA is a plus. Candidates for associate or full should also have a strong research record and the ability to participate in curriculum development. Candidates at the rank of assistant should demonstrate an interest in and the capacity to conduct quality scholarly research.


The position is housed in the Department of Accounting in the Greehey School of Business. The Department serves two majors, accounting and accounting and data analytics. Faculty in the department also teach core courses common to all business majors. At the graduate level, faculty members provide instruction to students enrolled in the School's two MBA programs. Successful faculty members maintain a balanced portfolio of teaching, research, and service and are open to interaction with industry and the profession.


The Greehey School of Business is AACSB accredited. At the undergraduate level, it offers a BBA with majors in Accounting, Accounting and Data Analytics, Finance and Risk Management, Management, Marketing, and International Business. At the graduate level, the school offers an 18-month cohort-based Greehey MBA, and an MBA for Professionals (MBA-P). Class sizes are small with an average faculty to student ratio of 1:17. San Antonio is one of the top ten fastest growing cities in the country with the San Antonio-Austin corridor described as the "New Major Metropolis" by major news media. The School has an excellent reputation for academic quality and has a very successful alumni base that is engaged with the School and the University.
