Systems Technology & Research, Inc. (STaR) is seeking a Datalink/Link-16 / Satellite (SatCom) Engineer to support the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Project Office in Huntsville, AL. Applicants should have prior DoD and/or aviation experience performing analysis and studies to advise on issues relating to the future of aviation communications systems. Applicants will be expected to interface with internal and external stakeholders to include engineering, test, safety, and original equipment manufacturers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support multi-domain operations (MDO) concept of operation (CONOP) activities on Unmanned aircraft and other potential platforms.
- Lead efforts on emerging capability needs in UAV MDO efforts for Datalink/SatCom integration on UAV platforms.
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for coordinating and leading the certification and approval processes for all topics related to datalinks, Link-16, and satellite communications.
- Serve as SME supporting the products, technologies, and ongoing efforts within the Army's UAS portfolio and development of a reliable network to support critical missions.
- Work with other SMEs, customers, and users to learn the goals and operational needs that shape network requirements.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- BS in Engineering or applicable science/technical field with at least 7 years' experience.
- Must be a US Citizen and have or be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project).
- Ability to communicate well and work within a team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and attention to detail skills.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize important, completing tasks and information.
- Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time.
