Business Improvement Analyst


LOCATION: Metallurgical Complex - Columbus, Montana (Greater Billings, MT Area)

POSITION SUMMARY: This position is designed to work with all departments at the Met Complex site, as well as collaborate with other Montana operations to report on, organize, and facilitate Business Improvement initiatives. In addition, the position will be key to developing and maintaining several additional initiatives.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Promote business improvement culture and lean manufacturing practices within the company, targeting safety, environmental, and cost reduction.
  • Able to communicate individual project value and expected result at the bottom line.
  • Champion of Share Point, Idea Drop, Monthly Report as well as a key member of the budgeting team.
  • Identify business tools to aid project organization.
  • Organize and update project documentation and business improvement charters across the Metallurgical Complex.
  • Facilitate team building, creation and documentation of charter projects.
  • Stay up to date on all initiatives that are being driven on site, connect groups with similar objectives.
  • Report to management on the progress of charters, share point, idea drop, and cost savings associated with projects.
  • Draw on the experience of the workforce to drive business improvement in safety, environmental, and cost.
  • Build a program to span all Montana operations in collaboration with coordinators at other sites.
  • Drive budgeting exercise such that collaboration, schedule, and zero-based execution are achieved.
  • Drive innovation.

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma and 1-2 years of specialized training in fixed plant operations or a related field, and 5-7 years of related work experience; or Bachelor's degree in mining/processing/business or related field and 1-2 years related work experience.
  • Working knowledge of fixed plant operations including safety, production, maintenance, economics, equipment, and staff utilization.
  • Leadership qualities including character, teamwork, communication, business sense, and vision.
  • Excellent leadership abilities, including the ability to train and mentor hourly employees, assist in conflict resolution, and encourage teamwork.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to include the ability to effectively train employees on various assignments/equipment and accurate and detailed record keeping.
  • Must be familiar with and/or familiarize oneself with OSHA regulations.
  • Strong organization and data management skills.

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • Basic computer and math skills, plus the ability to learn and utilize authorized computer software.
  • Working knowledge of Share Point
  • Independent work habits
  • Previous supervisory experience
