The Community Health Specialist is responsible for Operating Mobile Health Unit according to operator's manual specifications and safety measures. Provides for security when operating the unit at health screening and/or community health fair. Inventories equipment and supplies; maintains testing equipment. Assists with recordkeeping, documentation and in health screening activities as assigned per competency and protocol.

This includes:

  • Assists clients in to and out of the mobile health unit, includes ambulatory
    and wheelchair access
  • Assists clients with registration
  • Performs and accurately records BP, pulse, respiration and temperature
  • Troubleshoots issues and assures medical equipment is serviced and
    maintained, sending equipment out for repair when necessary
  • Act as lead in all medical testing equipment for the department;
    maintaining familiarity with all troubleshooting of department medical
  • Maintains contact with laboratory quality management, to assure all
    medical equipment is up to date
  • Familiarity with Microsoft applications and computer skills


  • Minimum HS Diploma or equivalent, Associates Degree preferred
  • Health/Social Services experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with focus on customer service.
  • Valid NJ driver's license.
  • Case management experience preferred.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Knowledge of cultural and lifestyle diversity issues with ability to network with a specific population.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team; Strong organizational, case management and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have reliable source of transportation.
  • Bilingual preferred.
