Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent, supplemented by an approved college equivalent study course.

Requires two years of experience in the operations of a water treatment plant; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Successfully completed the State of Florida Certified Operator's Water examination, or possess a current State of Florida Class C Certified Operator's License in water.

The purpose of this position is entry level work of routine difficulty in the operation and care of a variety of water treatment plant equipment and facilities on an assigned shift. Work involves proper operation and regulation of plant equipment so that end products meet the quality standards of the federal, state and county regulatory agencies and of the Utility Special District. Work includes operation of pumps, lime machines, and other related equipment; taking samples for laboratory analysis; taking and recording of meter readings at regular intervals; and adding chlorine and other chemicals to the raw water.

  • Applicants with a "B" Certification will receive an additional 5%
  • Applicants with a "A" Certification will receive an additional 10%
