Who We Are

RAINN is the nation's largest anti-sexual violence organization. RAINN created and operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline and operates the DoD Safe Helpline for the Department of Defense. RAINN also carries out programs to prevent sexual violence, help survivors, ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice, and help organizations improve the way they prevent and respond to sexual misconduct.

Position Overview

We are looking for a transformative leader to become our first Chief People Officer (CPO). You will be a part of RAINN's senior leadership team and lead the department that supports our most important asset: our people.

We're in a fast-growth phase and are looking for a talented leader who thrives in a busy environment; embraces and leads change management processes; and can manage the projected growth in staffing.

You will devise and execute a human resources strategy to help RAINN attract, support, and retain the very best team. You will also manage leadership development and other professional training efforts; oversee all HR systems; and work with leaders across the organization to project and fulfill talent needs. You should have a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and experience helping lead a DEI program.

You should be passionate about RAINN's mission, strategic in your operational approach, and highly collaborative to drive change and achieve strategic business outcomes.

Responsibilities Include

  • Develop and oversee the execution of RAINN's overall people strategy, in coordination and collaboration with the senior leadership team.
  • Oversee the organization's growing recruiting function, ensuring that RAINN is hiring an exceptionally talented and diverse staff to meet the organization's short and long-term talent needs.
  • Ensure that RAINN is creating a best-in-class employee experience, including employee on-boarding; engagement; professional development; and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Deliver performance management and professional development programs to ensure the organization is performing at the highest level.
  • Oversee compensation and benefit programs to ensure that we can attract and retain top talent.
  • Monitor and ensure the organization is in compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Work with outside employment counsel as needed.
  • Play an active role in strategic planning and budgeting; translate business strategies into HR initiatives.
  • Implement human resources strategies and ensure accountability on health and welfare benefits, records management, employee relations, and AA/EEO compliance.
  • Review and create policies and procedures. Identify and implement best practices.
  • Counsel and advise employees on sensitive personnel issues, including hiring, discipline, leadership development, promotions, and terminations.
  • Identify and resolve employee relations issues. Gather and analyze information and develop solutions.
  • Analyze compensation and benefits and ensure we remain competitive with other employers. Ensure that pay policies are equitable.
  • Oversee all HR information, operations, and technology functions, including employee payroll.
  • Oversee other business operations and administrative functions, including office management and finance.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Aptitude for creating, building, nurturing, and expanding relationships with people and organizations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification.
  • Minimum of 15 years of HR experience, with at least 10 years of executive HR experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Highly skilled in executing HR core processes in areas such as talent management, talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation, performance management, employee assessment and development, succession planning and organizational development.
