GENERAL PURPOSE
The Youth Track & Field Coach/Supervisor serves under the direction and general supervision of the Program Coordinators and the Recreation Manager. Track Coach/Supervisor must have general knowledge of track and field events and skills. Must be able to work with children 7 to 14 year old. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. The Track & Field program begins April 12th and runs through Mid-June. Practices are held on Mondays and or Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Meets will be held on any day of the week with other cities in Utah County throughout the season. Weekly hours will vary between 3 to 7 hours per week. Hourly requirements are part time/seasonal and not to exceed 29 hours per week. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
- Working under direct supervision of the Recreation Program Coordinator.
- Attending all scheduled practices, meets and arrive 30 minutes prior to practices and meets.
- Training and preparing youth participants in track and field events.
- Ability to work well with youth and adults.
- Overseeing staff assigned by league coordinator, i.e., Youth Track Aides
- Supervising Track team, report team information to coordinator.
- Assisting coordinators with training of youth aides.
- Assisting with meetings, and any necessary league preparation.
- Assisting with all other related duties as assigned.
- Evening and some Saturday hours.
- Setup/take down and clean-up of facilities after each practice or meet.
- Substituting as supervisor for other programs within the recreation department.
- Assisting with all other related duties as assigned.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIREMENTS
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Skills in communicating effectively with participants, parents and other staff.
- Ability to be enthusiastic, patient, and motivated to work with children 7-14 years old.
- Ability to teach basic track & field knowledge and rules.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Youth Track Aides must have general knowledge of Track & Field skills and rules.
- Prior Track Aide experience preferred but not required.
CONDITIONS
- Moderate physical activity. Ability to lift 15 to 50 pounds
- Position requires outdoor work with some exposure to adverse weather conditions, walking, standing, lifting and other physical activity.
