Paul Mitchell Advanced Education (PMAE) Corporate Office is seeking a qualified Sr. Regulatory Compliance Specialist to join our family! PMAE is a partially owned subsidiary of John Paul Mitchell Systems and the franchisor of 100+ cosmetology and/or barbering schools operating under the Paul Mitchell School brand. PMAE's "Be Nice" culture permeates every aspect of the organization's work, which includes developing curriculum, providing operational training and regulatory support for its schools, and providing advanced education programs for the cosmetology and barbering industries.


The Regulatory Compliance Specialist will provide overall support to the VP, Regulatory Compliance and Government Affairs. The Regulatory Compliance Specialist is responsible for supporting developing and delivering ongoing compliance and government relations efforts throughout the shared service system.

A successful candidate will have strong communication, project management and presentation skills to ensure the end-user fully understands the expectations required to perform their core functions and have a thorough understanding of the vocational school ecosystem and the regulatory umbrella of oversight. They must also have an unwavering commitment to following the law, customer service, diversity, equity, and inclusion.


  • Provide day to day support in compliance functions
  • Support in conducting analysis to maintain compliance goals; work with subject matter experts to understand the performance gaps, and needs assessment
  • Assist in monitoring and articulating all relevant regulations
  • Work to understand the dynamics of government relations and support efforts
  • Support in developing training on new systems, workflows, project launches as well as topics including soft skills, processes, and procedures
  • Contribute to the effective development, coordination, and presentation of system training for all employees including role specific training, including new hire onboarding
  • Coordinate internal training sessions including and not limited to scheduling conference rooms, having materials prepared, developing guides, etc.
  • Assist with the development of new testing and assessment processes & workflows
  • Support in the development of content with videos, courses, and other training tools using Storyline, A360 and other authoring platforms
  • Act as a point of contact for school's questions and concerns
  • Work with teams to promote best practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Represent PMAE internally and externally at training and related events
  • Perform other duties as assigned


  • Have a thorough understanding of Financial Aid, including Title IV, Scholarships and Veterans Administration (VA)
  • Possess excellent communication and ability to tactfully interact with individuals at various levels throughout the institution
  • Have engaging presentation skill set, proactive, and collaborative
  • Positive attitude and the ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment
  • Well organized, detail oriented, flexible, ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrate strong soft skills including collaboration, problem solving, adaptability and community engagement
  • Good organizational, administrative, and time management skills
  • A high level of proficiency using MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Strong presentation and training skills
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Ability to process computer data and to format and generate reports
  • Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures
  • Ability to manage complex fast paced administrative environment
  • Ability to travel up to 60% of the time


  • 2+ years of experience in training, learning, and development or sufficient practical and transferable experience to demonstrate practical equivalence.
  • Understanding of compliance in an education environment is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
