Job Summary: responsible for organizing patient medical costs and sending invoices to collect payment from patients and their insurers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Applies patient charges to patients accounts with a general understanding of ICD10 coding and modifiers for electronic and paper claims submission.
- Applies insurance and patient payments to the accounts.
- Speaks with patients via the phone and face to face regarding their accounts and collects payments.
- Corrects denied claims and resubmits for payment along with managing aged A/R and other duties as assigned.
- Properly code medical services, diagnosis, treatments, and more
- Invoice patients and insurance companies for claims or payments
- Track and collect payments, including setting up payment plans for outstanding bills.
- Correct rejected insurance claims and coding errors.
- Manage patient insurance claims and payment plans.
- Complete Medicare and Medi-Cal reviews
- Submit billing data to the appropriate insurance providers.
- Have a general knowledge of insurance plans and experience in navigating websites.
- Handle confidential information and abide by HIPAA laws and other medical policies.
- Maintain professional communication and working relationships with all providers and staff and maintain a professional appearance.
- Being a flexible highly motivated team player is essential.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Bilingual in Spanish
- 2 years of medical billing services or similar experience preferred.
- ICD10 and CPT coding experience preferred.
- Medical Terminology a plus.
- Knowledge of Workman Compensation Claims a plus.
Education Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED
