The Donor Engagement Manager works closely with the development team, executive team, catering, visitor experience, animal care, and research teams to offer meaningful and consistent experiences to donors that connect them with the vision and mission of the New England Aquarium. The manager works with the Associate Director to implement and manage the timely execution of events and high-touch experiences for NEAq donors, to focus on measurable outcomes that influence future giving and communications, and provide overall policy and planning of high-end donor engagement strategy for special interest groups including the Aquarium's Board of Directors.

This is a full-time regular position offering a comprehensive benefits package. The schedule will be Monday-Friday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm with the option for a hybrid schedule, working some days on-site and some days remotely. Remote days are only available for residents of MA, RI, NH, ME, and VT. This position will also require occasional work on nights and weekends for events, and may require some travel.
- Crafting an annual event matrix for donor engagement.
- Oversee assigned events including the development of an engagement plan for each (pre/during/post) and managing event budgets.
- Create and implement an effective event evaluation process for all Development events including attendee evaluation information that can be used to inform the event matrix.
- Produce quarterly reports demonstrating event Return on Investment (ROI).
- Collaborate to ensure synchronization between Development systems processes and Membership programs to provide optimal member and donor services, and establish and sustain data integrity policies in relation to core Development systems: Raiser's Edge, ATMS, and Luminate.
- Manage event logistics and serve as the on-site event leader for select events.
- With Associate Director, support the coordination of staff and volunteers for all major events to ensure consistent quality interactions. Observe the established internal event protocol to ensure equitable staffing and employee pay procedures are followed. Revise/develop Event protocol.
- Work closely with the Marketing team, and coordinate the creation of event materials and promotion as needed including the Annual Report or other impact deliverables.
- Complete registration, invitation, and attendee lists, name badges, and other administrative tasks for events when applicable.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the organization (Events, Catering, Visitor Experience, Anderson Cabot Center, and Conservation Learning) in crafting meaningful engagement opportunities.
- Manages all donor recognition, plaque, and signage inventory.
- Liaise with Finance and Administration to ensure all contracts, invoices, and budgets are properly managed.
- Work closely with the Associate Director and the Executive Office to execute tour requests from Development and Executive Office colleagues.
Minimum Training and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree is strongly preferred.
- Three to five years of donor relations, events, and/or fundraising experience is required.
- Working knowledge of donor relations, major gifts, and/or membership operations is required.
- Experience writing and editing materials for use with invitations, event briefings, and member communications required.
- Strong project management and organizational skills are essential.
- Must be able to work occasional nights and weekends with occasional travel.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience managing diverse activities to meet deadlines.
- Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience are appreciated.
- Ability to analyze information for the purpose of preparing reports, coordinating efforts, and solving problems.
- Candidates must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other departments, members/donors, and vendors.
- Proven experience with Microsoft Office, Fundraising databases such as The Raiser's Edge, eMarketing applications (Luminate Preferred), and point-of-sale systems is preferred.
- Exceptional attention to detail is critical and prior experience in the not-for-profit sector is preferred.
- A genuine interest in, and passion for, the important ocean and marine animal conservation mission of the Aquarium.
- Experience, coursework, or other training in fundraising principles & practices a plus.
