Job Title: Human Resources Associate- Recruiting

Department: Human Resources

The Human Resources (HR) Associate provides professional services in key human resource areas including recruitment/on-boarding, HR compliance, and employee recognition. The HR Associate will establish and maintain confidential files and records. This position is also involved in both the recruiting of new employees, responsible for leading the staffing efforts of the company and building a strong workforce that adds to the company's bottom line, and retention of current ones. The associate creates and implements programs for new employees, such as orientation and workshops on company policies. Developing and implementing programs that increase employee retention is another responsibility of the position. He/she promotes NCGS culture, developing programs, outreach and directing community involvement company-wide.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Process may involve both internal and external sourcing methods, using both traditional and non-traditional resources and a network of established contacts to identify and attract talent. Resources often include community networking events, job fairs, online sources, career fairs, and advertising/marketing programs
  • Partner with hiring managers to determine staffing needs
  • Candidate Screening: responsible for screening resumes to determine which candidates meet the minimum requirements; then move chosen candidates on to the next step in the hiring process
  • Interviewing: conduct initial interviews, which are then used to narrow the number of potential candidates who will be interviewed by the hiring manager; set up interview appointments between the chosen candidates and the hiring manager
  • Make recommendations to company hiring managers
  • Coordinate interviews with the hiring managers
  • Follow up on the interview process status
  • Maintain relationships with external candidates to ensure staffing goals are achieved
  • Communicate employer information and benefits during screening process
  • Stay current on the company's organization structure, personnel policy, and federal and state laws regarding employment practices
  • Serve as a liaison with area employment agencies, colleges, and industry associations
  • Complete timely reports on employment activity
  • Assist in orientation of new staff by reviewing policies and procedures as well as issuing and explaining benefits forms and applications; also, insures all required documentation is complete and retained in the staff file
  • Help define, shape, cultivate, and communicate the organizational culture to attract and retain employees, and ensure that HR strategies are aligned with the culture
  • Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering Human Resource policies, procedures and programs and help resolve work-related problems while continuing to ensure a balanced perspective
  • Continuous focus on process improvement to increase efficiencies and insure complete and accurate records
  • Assist management in the selection of benefits including health insurance, retirement plans, etc.
  • Assists in planning corporate meetings, and arranging travel as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • This job does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • 1-3 years of recruiting experience
  • Knowledge of Applicant Tracking Software Programs
  • Possess knowledge of employment and labor law, have a deep understanding of the organization and its staffing needs
  • Effective Presentation Skills

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) from four-year college or university
  • Advanced post graduate degree preferred
  • Industry certification, such as the Professional in Human Resources (PHR®), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR®) or Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR®) is a plus
  • 1-5 years related experience and/or training
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
