About the Mill Valley Film Festival:

Founded in 1978, the Mill Valley Film Festival is a world-renowned 11-day event held every October, screening over 200 innovative US and international films for over 60,000 attendees. About the job:

The role of a Festival Box Office Manager is about creating exceptional and memorable customer and guest experiences at the Mill Valley Film Festival. You are excited to learn the inner workings of the festival and to accurately share information with and provide support to all festival participants.


Prior to the Festival (9/1-10/5)

  • Learn our systems and offer technical support for customers navigating our website, purchasing tickets, and/or streaming films.
  • Oversee customer support operations including walk up, phones, emails, and chat inquiries
  • Provide excellent customer service, fostering positive and responsive relationships.
  • Hire and train box office and customer support staff
  • Coordinate timely fulfillment and delivery of all festival comp ticket & voucher requests/needs

During the Festival (10/6-10/16)

  • Lead box office operations onsite at festival screening venue(s)
  • Act as box office primary point of contact for assigned venue(s)
  • Assist in the set-up and strike of box office(s)
  • Ensure proper staffing structure support systems are in place
  • Supply box office staff with all necessary equipment and supplies
  • Produce festival passes on site, when applicable
  • Collaborate with Venue Operations team to achieve efficient operational flow
  • Establish venue specific Rush Ticketing operations
  • Be prepared to facilitate and communicate Covid Specific Protocols/Procedures as required, when applicable, where needed

Post Festival

  • Submit a detailed wrap report and participate in post-Festival wrap meetings, as necessary
