The Senior Development Officer is responsible for managing a group of prospective donors in a professional and effective way that leads to higher-level annual fund gifts, and major and planned gifts.
The Senior Development Officer will work closely with the development team and program staff to set and meet institutional fundraising goals.
- Develop and implement an intentional strategy to build relationships, conducive to fundraising, with personal portfolio of at least 100 top prospects.
- Identify meaningful opportunities for cultivating and engaging your key prospects, including events.
- Work with Stewardship staff to ensure meaningful donor recognition for assigned donors.
- With law school leadership, create and implement a project review process to determine which grants the school will pursue.
- Lead the grant proposal and reporting process, including budgets, and manage the proposal review process.
- Participate in external meetings with current and potential foundation and corporate donors.
- Manage donor relationships through regular communications and cultivation.
- Maintain institutional donor information in database.
- Help identify new institutional donors through research and outreach to prospective foundations and corporations.
- Identify, recruit, and maintain volunteer relationships.
- Bachelor's degree in field appropriate to area of assignment, but we will consider a combination of education and experience. At least 5 years of grant writing and institutional fundraising experience with demonstrated success of managing donor relationships and raising new funds for nonprofit/educational organizations required.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize work, and maintain confidential information.
- Ability to manage multiple and competing work priorities.
- Excellent computer skills and strong problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal, writing, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to stay abreast of fundraising trends and prospect research techniques and tools.
- Ability to interact with diverse constituencies in a collaborative environment.
