The Press Assistant is responsible for efficient make-ready of jobs to meet the needs of the press schedule, clean-up, receiving, documentation, proper handling and storage of press components such as ink pots, dies, print cylinders, rollers, plates & supplies. Locates Ink and varnish types for jobs and mixes both UV and Water Based Inks using computer and draw downs, and ink proofing. Locates stock, dies, print cylinders and handles same without causing damage, cuts and mounts plates, cuts cores, fills press supplies, cleans and assembles pump parts. We will train the right candidates!
1st shift available, 12-hour shifts
3rd shift/12 hour overnights available
Some of the duties include:
- Reads, reviews and understands the assigned and scheduled job according to the detailed specifications on the job ticket, QMS documents, the spec sheet(s), customer spec sheet(s), and proofs, including the approved press samples, in order to set-up and run the required equipment.
- Responsible for ensuring that all required materials and components for the job are available and at the press. These include stock, dies, print cylinders, inks, pumps, color standards for premium colors, etc.
- Researches and verifies stock, materials and jobs on the Primac and/or PC networks.
- Completes the makeready and installs all required auxiliary equipment in order to meet or perform the necessary job specifications.
- Assists the plating department with cutting and mounting plates on a backup basis.
- Selects the inks and mixes inks as specified.
- Monitors use of inks and varnishes on the press.
Some key must-haves are:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Must be able to read, write legibly, follow verbal and written instructions.
