The Research Intern on the Assay Development team will be working with technical teams in the development of several molecular assays for detecting infectious disease. The position will aid Research Associates and Scientists on the team with reagent preparation and assay setups, as well as data analysis and presentation of results to the Scientific team. The Research Intern will be a vital part of the Lucira Health team, with key contributions to new product development and many opportunities for learning and growth.


  • Perform reaction setup of molecular assays (pipetting), such as PCR and DNA/RNA purification
  • Maintain clear and concise documentation of developed processes in a lab notebook or electronic lab notebook
  • Generate and maintain sterile stock of molecular buffers and reaction mixes
  • Assist with the procurement of supplies, and general laboratory maintenance

  • Able to balance being a team player and an individual contributor


  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree in Molecular/Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, or closely related field
  • Only candidates with at least 2 years of study towards a bachelor's will be considered
  • Experience in a BSL2 environment under GXP and general safety regulations
  • Previous molecular biology laboratory experience in the classroom, in academic research, or a related industry
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques
  • Experience with PCR, real-time PCR, DNA and RNA purification and isothermal amplification technique highly preferred
