Kleinschmidt has a full-time opening for a Mechanical Engineer to perform mechanical design tasks in Portland, Oregon. Our flexibility and core value of relationships allows us to offer employees the opportunity to work in an office, or remotely, based on their personal needs. Who You Are

A licensed Professional Engineer with a BSME and a minimum of 5 years of experience. Possess excellent problem-solving skills and capable of working collaboratively with clients and team members in a dynamic, multidisciplinary consulting firm.

Knowledgeable: Experience in machine design and production of contract drawing packages is required. Experience using AutoCAD and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software in Solidworks or SolidEdge. Experience working in the field with Clients and Contractors during planning and construction of projects. Design experience with dams or hydroelectric facilities preferred.

Relationship-focused: Experience developing long-lasting relationships with clients to assist them in solving complex engineering challenges.

Additional Requirements

  • Must possess permanent authorization to work in the United States and able to acquire authorization to work in Canada
  • Must be willing to travel and possess a valid driver's license

About the Position

This position is in the engineering discipline of mechanical and typically dealing with unique design issues for fish passage projects, hydroelectric turbines, gates, trash rakes, and hydroelectric balance of plant retrofits and rehabilitation efforts at existing hydroelectric projects as well as the design of new power stations.
