Kleinschmidt has a full-time opening for a Geotechnical Engineer to work on design projects, perform site investigations, and provide construction support in the dams and hydroelectric industry. The position is available in our South Carolina office. Who You Are
A licensed Professional Engineer with a minimum of 6 years of experience and a BS in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (concentration in Geotechnical or Geological Engineering).
Experienced: Basic knowledge of standards applicable to geotechnical and civil/structural engineering disciplines, preferably with experience related to dams and dam safety.
Technically-focused: Experience with design and construction of embankments, deep and shallow foundation design, temporary excavation support, and embankment condition assessments. Experience with slope stability and seepage modeling software, preferably Slope/W and Seep/W. Experience performing geotechnical investigations, including drilling, field testing/sampling, instrumentation, and test pitting as well as experience performing dam safety and foundation or construction inspections.
Relationship-focused: Enjoys collaborating with clients and co-workers and has the ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team while applying geotechnical engineering skills from analysis and design through to construction. In addition to excellent technical skills, the candidate will possess strong communication and writing skills, be self-motivated and growth-oriented with demonstrated excellent problem-solving skills.

About the Position
The position includes a combination of project, people, and client relationship management for challenging engineering projects. Projects will range from conceptual to final designs, condition assessments of embankment dams or canals, performing field investigations, and construction monitoring and oversite. The position will require some travel time to complete geotechnical field investigations and perform on-site construction monitoring or inspections. The successful candidate will be part of a team of technical professionals working on various hydroelectric and other renewable energy projects in Canada and the United States.
