A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PRODUCT INTEGRATOR
As a Product Integrator, you lead systems engineering and technical assistance (SETA) for the U.S. Army's Future Vertical Lift Cross-Functional Team (FVL CFT). Performing a variety of systems integration engineering tasks, you provide technical analysis and support. You influence the design and requirements criteria for the FVL ecosystem, including future long-range assault aircraft (FLRAA), future attack reconnaissance aircraft (FARA), the future unmanned aircraft system, and modular open systems approach (MOSA). Applying your analytical skills, you help assess, analyze, integrate, test plan, and evaluate FVL candidate sensors, signal processing, target acquisitions, guidance, navigation, controls, electronics, and computers.
You also provide support in the areas of open systems architecture (OSA) for the design and development of techniques and technologies aligned with the DoD's MOSA and the CFTs A3I approaches. To ensure that all aspects of maintenance are addressed in systems designs, you assist with logistics engineering in maintenance planning. You help define the work that the FVL CFT is accomplishing within the FVL ecosystem. From determining and establishing life-cycle processes to developing briefings and reports with supporting graphics and other analyses, you assist with all phases of program integration and technical management. You provide technical expertise to influence the engineering design of aviation and missile weapon systems.
While increasing reliability, availability, and maintainability, you work to reduce life-cycle sustainment costs, manpower requirements, and fuel consumption. You also identify ways to drive down the logistics costs in terms of manpower, spares, and downtime while adapting proven technologies to enhance the performance, reliability, and environmental compliance. Additionally, you find ways to ensure the minimal adverse impact to the user. You also assist the government in developing acquisition documents, statements of work, contract data requirements list requirements, work breakdown structures, schedules, and life cycle cost estimates. You get great satisfaction out of using your technical skills to benefit your country!
