Title: Enterprise Monitoring System Administrator

Location: Springfield, VA

Clearance: TS/SCI with the ability to obtain and maintain a CI polygraph

Position Overview:

The Enterprise Monitoring System Administrator is responsible for the operations and maintenance of existing enterprise monitoring solutions spanning multiple enclaves. System Administrators will also provide assistance to customer engineers in the development of requirements and design validation for future monitoring solutions. Duties include validating the health of monitoring agents on end devices, maintaining the central monitoring solution on each network, and communication between alerting platforms and the monitor of monitors. This individual will work in a team environment to ensure mission needs are met and ensure functionality of capabilities to customers.


  • Perform technical software configuration, rebooting, and other remedial actions to resolve connectivity with monitoring solutions by remotely logging into the end user's endpoint (desktops and/or servers)
  • Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance by rapidly distinguishing isolated user problems
  • Maintain the infrastructure services enterprise monitoring systems, validating the health of monitoring agents and communication between alerting platforms and the monitor of monitors
  • Coordinate with customers and stakeholders to collect data, conduct analysis, develop solutions, and implement monitoring strategies based on existing incident tickets or customer requirements
  • Establish comprehensive availability and capacity management solution using lessons learned
  • Develop solutions to technical issues
  • Provide follow-up reports (technical findings, feedback, resolution steps taken) for root cause analysis, engineering technical assessment and process improvement initiatives
  • Provide tools to support customer requirements in a 24/7/365 environment.
  • Update operations and maintenance documentation and provide familiarization training on new capabilities for 24/7/365 IT monitoring/watch personnel


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline with 2+ years of related work experience; Master's degree preferred; additional years' of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
  • Comfortable interacting with service owners/managers and administrators to handle service inquiries and problems
  • Experience working in a Tier II position; familiar with using desktop software applications such as web browsing, client software, and ITSM software
  • Experience utilizing/managing/configuring centralized monitoring solutions based on SolarWinds and Splunk (BMC TrueSight and/or SCOM experience a plus).
  • Knowledge of IC IT standards and best practices
  • Practice of day-to-day management and maintenance of enterprise monitoring solutions
  • Experience tailoring monitoring dashboards based on customer/user requirements
  • Comfortable working with customers to develop a system-specific monitoring strategy and implementing the solution in an operational system
  • Familiarity with log reviews, incident analysis, and identification of issue trends
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work independently or as a member of a team
  • Familiarity with incident/change management ticketing systems such as Service Central
  • Must possess current DoD 8570 IAT II certification
  • Current active TS/SCI clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain a CI polygraph

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Foundational knowledge around AWS and Azure cloud services, and the cloud ecosystem
  • Knowledge of integrating Splunk into existing monitoring solutions
  • Experience incorporating Dell EMC storage system monitoring into a centralized enterprise monitoring solution
  • Knowledge of incorporating VMware, Docker, Hyper-V or other virtualization system monitoring into a centralized enterprise monitoring solution
