Title: Cyber Security Engineer ~ API
Location: Reston, VA, Alexandria, VA or Washington, DC
Clearance: TS/SCI with the ability to obtain and maintain a CI polygraph
Responsibilities:
- Support efforts to minimize security risk by managing, monitoring, testing and reporting on applications/APIs, along with advising the internal technical community as a SME
- Work with Agile and DevOpsSec teams, reviewing system/application design, architecture documentation, researching/referencing information security policy and delivering recommendations/guidance
- Plan, research, design and model robust API frameworks using API technologies in cloud-native container platforms hosted on traditional data centers and on cloud providers
- Duties include participation in the creation and maintenance of API security specifications such as performing API code reviews, administering API security testing tools, etc.
- Conduct in-depth security engineering reviews and approve proposed systems/application security control implementations used for systems hosted in cloud/container-based providers
- Identify security risks and areas of exposure in systems/applications developed by mission system owners
- Identify COTS/GOTS systems integration issues, security control implementation deficiencies and recommend enhancements
- Oversee container-based technology and security awareness programs, as well as educational efforts
- Provide technical supervision/guidance as required for the security team
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information systems, or a related technical discipline with 5+ years of related work experience; an additional 5 years of work experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
- Understanding of microservices and serverless architecture/design patterns
- Strong knowledge of container-based technologies (i.e., Docker, OpenShift and Kubernetes)
- Systems architecture/engineering; supporting large/complex enterprise projects a plus
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work independently or as a member of a team
- Must possess current DoD 8570 IAT III certification; certifications such as CSSLP, CCSP, CPSSE, GXPN, GWAPT and/or similar certifications a plus
- Current active TS/SCI clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain a CI polygraph
