Job Title: Worker's Compensation Paralegal/Trial Preparation Classification: Full Time - Non Exempt

Department: Worker's Compensation Support Team

Horwitz, Horwitz, and Associates is a progressive family-owned law firm, located in Chicago's loop, who has represented Illinois' injured for over three generations. We are passionate about seeking justice for those who have been injured and who may have been previously denied representation. We are seeking to fill the role of Worker's Compensation Paralegal/Trial Preparation with our Firm.

About the Role:

The Worker's Compensation Paralegal/Trial Prep team member is proactive, team oriented, and goal driven who is able to manage a wide variety of tasks in a high-volume and fast paced work environment. This person assists the WC Attorneys with all stages of trial preparations, from the beginning of the case through the trial date.

Duties and Responsibilities: include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Draft and file Motions
  • Review client payroll records and create wage analyses
  • Review medical records and create medial summaries
  • Create record treating set exhibits to prepare Attorneys for deposition
  • Create trial exhibits, including, but not limited to: medical records, medical bills, wage analysis, expert opinions to prepare Attorneys for trial
  • Coordinate with various team members to ensure trial exhibits are fully prepared prior to hearing
  • Assist Attorneys with settlement demands
  • Light legal research
  • Other duties as assigned by Attorney or Management Team

Success Factors /Qualifications:

  • Experience at a Personal Injury/Worker's Compensation Law Firm is preferred
  • Paralegal experience is highly preferred
  • Exposure to/familiarity with Worker's Compensation is a plus
  • 2-year degree or higher is a plus
  • Able to work both independently and contribute to a positive team environment
  • Self- motivated and goal driven
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills
  • Efficient with time management and deadline conscious
  • Superior attention to detail and a high level of organization skills
  • Commitment to providing outstanding customer service to both internally and externally
  • Must be fully vaccinated (COVID-19) prior to employment
  • Ability to read, write, and converse in Spanish is a plus

Salary & Benefits:

  • Compensation starts at $39,000 annually and depends on experience
