Harbor House of Central Florida is Orange County's state-certified Domestic Violence service provider. We offer a variety of services including a 24-hour crisis hotline, shelter, counseling, legal advocacy, and community education.
Weekend Supervisor
Part-time Position
Friday-Sunday
Harbor House is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic individual to assist the Shelter Manager in overseeing the weekend operations of the emergency domestic violence shelter. This individual will review and assesses crisis counseling provided to survivors and provide feedback and skill development to weekend shelter advocates assuring the quality of services. The Weekend Supervisor will support the Shelter Manager in motivating employees and ensuring a focus on the mission of Harbor House of Central Florida. Performs sanitation and maintenance of the kennel facility (kennels, exercise, training areas, and grounds) and provides sanitation and maintenance assistance for the shelter facility using approved cleaning tools and methods.
Experience: The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of management experience with programmatic oversight, grant reporting and compliance, scheduling, budget development, and risk management. A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in a domestic violence program, is preferred.
Other Job Requirements: This position requires the ability to provide effective and immediate crisis intervention for clients. Advanced communication skills both orally and in writing. A strong understanding of trauma, victimization and the effects of domestic violence on both adults and children from diverse populations is critical. Intermediate to advanced computer skills and clean driving record required. A passion for customer service and team mentoring is also a plus. Must attend a 3-day training to become CORE certified prior to working with survivors. Must be comfortable working with and around animals.
Education and Training: Minimum of an undergraduate degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field is preferred. Professional experience may be substituted for formal education at the discretion of the Chief Executive Officer.
