Harbor House of Central Florida works to prevent and eliminate domestic abuse by providing critical life-saving services to survivors, implementing and advancing best practices, and educating and engaging the community in a united front. We offer emergency shelter, court injunctions, and a domestic abuse hotline. We're there before the desperate calls to 911 before abusers lash out in anger. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN EVENING SUPERVISOR
As an Evening Supervisor, you provide support to our Shelter Manager and our team of Shelter Advocates who support survivors in our emergency shelter. You assist in overseeing the evening operations of our emergency shelter which includes co-leading the shelter advocates team and organizing the team schedule. The Shelter Advocates depend on your leadership in ensuring that they are compliant with company policies and procedures.
By assisting the Shelter Manager in motivating employees, you can make sure that our team is focused on our mission to prevent and eliminate domestic violence by providing critical life-saving services to survivors, implementing and advancing best practices, and educating and engaging the community in a united front. You'll perform daily checks of the kennel to ensure all necessary services for humane feeding, watering, and caring for animals on campus are completed. When one of our survivors has a complaint you are able to quickly resolve problems and provide compassionate customer service. You enjoy being able to advocate and make a difference in the lives of people around you by helping them through their difficult circumstances.
- Management experience
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience preferably in a domestic violence program
- Experience with programmatic oversight, grant reporting and compliance, scheduling, budget development, and risk management
- Ability to provide effective and immediate crisis intervention
- Clean driving record
- Basic to intermediate computer skills
- Must be comfortable working with and around animals.
Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field is preferred. When you are hired you must attend a 3-day training to become CORE certified prior to working with survivors. Do you have great verbal and written communication skills? Are you passionate about customer service and team mentoring? Do you have a strong understanding of trauma, victimization, and the effects of domestic violence on both adults and children from diverse populations? If so, you may be perfect for this position!
