Harbor House of Central Florida is Orange County's state certified Domestic Violence service provider. We offer a variety of services including a 24-hour crisis hotline, shelter, counseling, legal advocacy, and community education.

Shelter Manager

Full-time Position


Harbor House is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic individual to overseeing the programming, safety, operations, administration and staffing of the Harbor House of Central Florida emergency shelter and kennel programs. This individual will ensure the team adheres to company policies, resolving survivor complaints, and leading the team. The Shelter Manager motivate employees and ensure a focus on the mission of Harbor House of Central Florida. Performs daily checks of the kennel to ensure all necessary services for humane feeding, watering, and caring for animals on campus are completed.


Education and Experience: The ideal candidate will have master's degree in social work, Counseling, or related field is required with a minimum of 2 years supervisory experience, or an undergraduate degree with a minimum of 5 years progressive supervisory experience. Professional experience may be substituted for formal education at the discretion of the Chief Executive Officer.


Other Job Requirements: This position requires knowledge of basic personnel practices and procedures. Ability to identify program needs and implement programmatic changes. the ability to provide effective and immediate crisis intervention for clients. Advanced communication skills both orally and in writing. A strong understanding of trauma, victimization, and effects of domestic violence on both adults and children from diverse populations is critical. Excellent computer skills and clean driving record required. A passion for customer service and team mentoring is also a plus. Must attend a 3-day training to become CORE certified prior to working with survivors. Must be comfortable working with and around animals.
