Job Responsibilities Sales Engineers have responsibility for providing technical guidance to achieve the core Sales goals of generating new business opportunities, assisting development projects, maintaining customer relationships, and marketing of products. Sales Engineers interface with customers regarding new and existing projects, customer request for actions, change notices, and pricing. This role requires an engineering background for delivering technical guidance, and provides an opportunity to develop into a senior level business development position. As the customer base for this role is located in Asia, working hours should be amenable to support this market.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Generating New Business Opportunities
  • Provide technical guidance to both customers and Sales Representatives to aid in selecting the best solution for an application. Enhance customer understanding of product features and specifications
  • Work with Business Development Manager and Engineering to create designs that meet customer requirements
  • Assist Business Development Manager to identify opportunity areas for growth within the region
  • Provide product samples, demos and sales literature to customers on request. Follow up on samples and open quotes with customers and/or Sales Reps
  • Screen incoming SDPRs to ensure all necessary technical and application information is complete. Work with Business Units to ensure SDPRs are completed on time. Assist in Proposal development.  
  • Update and maintain opportunity-tracking information in the CRM database and work with Sales Representatives to do the same

Development Projects

  • Represent the Sales Department on calls with customers during project execution
  • Collaborate with Business Unit and customer personnel to ensure critical project milestones are being met
  • Track Engineering Change Notices provided to customers, and work to implement in a timely manner
  • Follow and reinforce Sales and project development processes, making suggestions for improvement

Maintaining Customer Relationships

  • Investigate and resolve problems causing delays in customer deliveries
  • Ensure quality issues are resolved quickly. Ensure the CCA process is being followed
  • Troubleshoot application issues as they occur
  • Manage Product Advisory Notices for custom products to the appropriate customer personnel
  • Review customer report cards and help to correct problems associated with poor performance
  • Manage supplier portals of large customers

Marketing of Products

  • Partner with Marketing to design and build product marketing demos
  • Keep account activities and literature up to date
  • Participate in training sessions as requested

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • BS in Engineering
  • Two to four years relevant customer interaction
  • Experience working with customer base located in Asia
  • Passion for serving Customers

Additional Skills/Experience

  • Experience working in an SAP S/4 Hana environment
  • Familiarity with Salesforce.com
  • Fluent in English and Mandarin or Cantonese a plus
