Engineer I: Performs Relay & Control functions requiring the basic electrical design of distribution substations and the selection and application of standard engineering techniques, guidelines, procedures and standards. Works under close supervision of an an experienced transmission engineer. Receives specific and detailed instructions as to the required tasks and results expected. Assignments, which provide experience and familiarization with the engineering staff, methods, practices, and programs of the company, are routine with limited judgment on the details thereof and are reviewed for sound engineering practices.
Engineer II: Performs Protection and Control functions requiring basic to advanced electrical design of distribution substations and the selection and application of standard engineering techniques, guidelines, procedures and standards. Works under close supervision of an experienced transmission engineer on new aspects of assignments. Assignments are routine with limited judgment on the details thereof and are reviewed for sound engineering practices. Receives techniques and procedures to be applied on non-routine work. Assignments are screened for unusual or difficult problems.
Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
Experience: Engineer I - Zero to eighteen months experience in the power system environment or electric utility environment.
Engineer II - Eighteen months experience in the power system environment or electric utility environment.
Equivalent Experience: None
Specialized Skills: Knowledge of electrical control theory, Knowledge of Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD), Knowledge of Microsoft products (MSWord, Excel, and PowerPoint), Knowledge of distribution protective relays, Ability to interpret one-line, three-lines, AC and DC elementary, connection and wiring diagrams for substations.
