Provides technical support for the transmission planning activities of the Corporation by performing transmission planning studies and evaluating electrical alternatives to support transmission system reliability. Supports Corporate regulatory compliance for transmission planning and related functions.

EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering

EXPERIENCE:

Engineer-I: None

Engineer-II: Eighteen months with an electric utility or related field

Engineer-III: Three years in Power Systems with at least two years in Transmission Planning

Engineer-IV: Six Years (four years with P.E. License) in Power Systems with at least three years in Transmission Planning

Engineer-V: Eight Years (six years with P.E. License) in Power Systems with at least four years in Transmission Planning

EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE:

Engineer-I: None

Engineer-II: Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering; or Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering with two and a half (2.5) years of experience in the electric utility industry in an engineering role; or Bachelor of Science Degree in a related engineering field with a Professional Engineer license (Electrical Discipline) and one (1) year of experience in the electric utility industry in an engineering role.

Engineer-III: E-II qualifications plus two additional years of experience in listed areas; or eleven years emphasis in Power Systems with at least three years in Transmission Planning.

Engineer-IV: E-III qualifications plus three additional years of experience in listed areas; or fourteen years emphasis in Power Systems with at least five years in Transmission Planning.

Engineer-V: E-IV qualifications plus three additional years of experience in listed areas; or Master of Science Electrical Engineering with emphasis in Power Systems and six years of experience in Transmission System Planning.

Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: EIT, PE, & PMP are applicable but not required.

Essential skillsets include: Computer skills (MS office, power flow analysis software); Computer programming (creating/debugging code, application development, etc); Financial & economic analysis capability; Good interpersonal & analytical skills, and effective oral & written communication skills; Ability to manage multiple project and/or study efforts simultaneously; Critical thinking and problem solving.
