We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Assistant Preschool Teacher to support the daily operations of our Head Start Program at our Head Start Salmon Location. The ideal candidate will be committed to providing a high-quality educational experience for young children, with a focus on social-emotional development, cognitive development, and school readiness.

Responsibilities:

The Assistant Preschool Teacher assists the Lead Teacher in providing a supportive, safe, enriched learning environment for children, parents, volunteers, and team members. You will also promote a respectful, sensitive, and proactive approach to each child and his/her family and use multi-cultural and anti-bias materials in the classroom in order to prepare children for successful transition to kindergarten. In addition, you will assist in promoting social competence, fostering emotional health, enhancing physical growth, and increasing cognitive skills of each child in the class, with particular emphasis on literacy and learning numbers.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or Equivalency Degree (GED) and
  • The ability to obtain the Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential with EICAP's guidance within 12 months of hire (EICAP covers cost)
  • Preferred an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of teachers and support staff.
  • Preferred experience working with young children but will train the right individual.
  • Must pass a Health and Welfare Enhanced Background Check
  • Physical exam and Tuberculosis (TB) screen required.
  • The ability to become CPR and First Aid certified through EICAP's training program.

Compensation:

The Head Start Assistant Preschool Teacher position is a full-time, hourly position. We offer a competitive benefits package, as well as ongoing professional development opportunities to help you grow in your role:
