We are currently looking to fill the position of Transportation Coordinator for our subsidiary company, Midwest Environmental Transport. We are seeking an individual with strong work ethic and willingness to learn and take initiative. The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for directing activities and functions within the Transportation Department, including dispatching and scheduling. The transportation coordinator also works with drivers and management to ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state requirements.


  • Recommends procurement of materials, supplies and equipment for the Transportation Department including preparing cost estimates for procurement of new equipment.
  • Develops and implements a maintenance program for company owned equipment and vehicles including obtaining repair estimates for major repairs.
  • Reviews qualifications of Transportation Department employee applicants and makes recommendations for selection.
  • Works effectively with customers, vendors, employees and regulatory agencies including facilitating audit requests, both random and periodic.
  • Ensures that drivers are properly trained, have all necessary driving licenses, and that driving records and DOT physicals are maintained and monitored.
  • Communicate with drivers, outbound coordinator, and remote offices regarding pickup and delivery of loads, trailer/tanker/roll-off locations, and schedules.
  • On call for roadside assistance, such as tire repairs or breakdowns.
  • Provide assistance when accidents occur, including obtaining police reports and coordinating insurance claims and repairs.


  • Minimum of five years related experience and/or training in the area of Transportation.
  • Basic computer skills required (e.g., ability to use email, Excel and Word).
  • Be able to communicate clearly and precisely, both verbally and in writing including maintaining calm demeanor to assist drivers in stressful situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
