Job Description/Responsibilities: Medical coding consultants work remotely to ensure accurate coding of the clinically documented care within medical records. They utilize industry coding guidelines along with specialized medical classification software to assign procedure and diagnosis codes for insurance billing. EPIC experience preferred. Experience with injections and infusions, E/M , and CPT codes required.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of OP experience inclusive of infusions/injections and E/M leveling
  • AHIMA credentialed - CCS and/or RHIT/RHIA required OR AAPC credentialed CPC or COC (formerly CPC-H) required.
  • Minimum of two years of hospital outpatient coding experience coding in ICD and CPT, with majority of experience falling in the last 12 months.
  • Satisfactory completion of e4 ICD-10-CM test - 85 or above on CM.
  • Demonstration of successful completion of ICD-10-CM coursework with experience production coding of hospital outpatient encounters in ICD-10-CM.
  • Solid knowledge of hospital outpatient documentation, charging, and coding workflows and terminology; Solid understanding of the use of CPT Assistant,, CPT modifiers, NCCI edits, and Ambulatory Patient Classifications (APCs).
  • Computer Assisted Coding (CAC) experience desired but not required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with remote EHR access and encoder preferred; Technical skill set sufficient to sustain independent remote working environment, including PC troubleshooting, program installation.
  • Self-starter with strong interpersonal, analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Learns quickly and adapt to change.
